It has been a long time since Port Orford has had a local pharmacy, dental service, and community health center. You may have noticed development at the former Port Orford Umpqua Bank along Highway 101 and wondered what is going on.
The dream of a new health center in Port Orford is now a reality with the ribbon cutting set for September 27 at 4 pm for the new Auborn Center for Wellness, named after former Mayor Jim Auborn.
The former Umpqua Bank will house this Federally qualified health care center that includes a pharmacy, conference room, administrative offices, exam rooms, and more. Eventually the mix of planned healthcare will shift as more planned facilities are completed to include OHSU students that are living, studying, and practicing in rural communities, and dental services.
This project was possible through the generosity of Umpqua Bank, Port Orford Main Street Revitalization Association's partnership, Oregon State Bureau of Primary Healthcare, Health Resources Services Administration, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, and generous donations and volunteer services from local citizens and businesses.
What a great day in the neighborhood! Come celebrate with us!
